Camp Fowler seeks Program Director
Speculator & Schenectady, New York
Fowler Camp and Retreat Center (Camp Fowler) was founded in 1954 by the Reformed Church of America’s Synod of Albany who identified a need for a Christian youth camping ministry within upstate New York to support its extensive congregational base at the time. The leaders of the Synod of Albany were driven by the belief that an organization dedicated to sharing the Gospel with our youth within a remote camp setting, could add a supplemental and vital role to support the traditional church experience of youth throughout the Albany Synod. Since its founding, Camp Fowler has not only stayed true to its original mission of providing a Christian youth camping experience throughout the Synod of Albany, it now provides that experience for any individual interested and several partners across New York State and the United States including but not limited to denominations like the United Church of Christ as well as Presbyterian churches. The camp also has collegiate partners like Hope College (MI) and Skidmore College.
Camp Fowler has also been able to adapt as needed and now brings 600-800 youth together each summer from all walks of life to learn and engage in being in an inclusive and hospitable community, living in simplicity, and caring for God’s creation all through a compassionate Christian approach rooted in the Gospel. With a year-round team of five people, a summer staff of 24, and over 100 volunteers each summer, Camp Fowler’s facilities are active and engaging throughout the year hosting various retreats, weddings and receptions, and family rentals.
